Help us reach 500,000 kids with our Peace Pals Global Exchange! Your generosity helps create a ripple of peace across the globe!

I liked doing the Peace Pals postcard project because I got to let out my inner self and just do what I'm best at - art work. It was also a great opportunity to show off my art. Peace to everyone!

I love your Peace Pals idea and would think kids would love to participate--I know sharing this project with my grandchildren was an honor!! They may actually grow up owning the possibility of peace, and projects like this can only further that possibility.

Banners for Peace; a collaborative arts workshop

Introduction

The Banners for Peace workshop is a collaborative arts initiative inviting schools around the Bay to organize a group of students to participate in the painting of a giant work of art. Banner painting workshops meet for 90 minute sessions, one day a week, for eight-ten weeks as either an after-school program, or in conjunction with an existing art class. These creative arts workshops provide a group of students the opportunity to work together to design, decorate, and paint an uplifting message on a large-scale canvas.

Mission

The mission of the Banners for Peace initiative is to offer participants a collaborative arts experience focusing on the positive aspects of exploring our creativity; being open, inspiring love, and learning new artistic practices as we work together to complete a magical piece of art. The Create Peace Project, a San Francisco non-profit organization, is organizing this Bay Area wide arts initiative, in anticipation of hosting an interactive Day of Peace and showcase of all the Banners for Peace in December of 2008 and again in May of 2009.
