Ross Holzman.
Ross Holzman creates monumental, site-specific mosaics that invite entire communities into the act of making — from corporate campuses to city parks to school hallways. Our Story.
Create Peace Project began as a response — to violence in the world, to the loss of arts programming in public schools, to a growing need for human connection. We believe creative self-expression is one of the most powerful tools for building peace, starting with the individual and rippling outward into community.
Creative Collaboration
Working in groups, we use the practice of art-making to build community, foster teamwork, and support peaceful habits of sharing and co-creation — developing self-esteem and meaningful art together.
Positive-Peace Practices
Before we make art, we breathe together, sit together, and share a moment of silence. Visual art-making becomes a practice of being quiet, calm and centered — kindness and acceptance built into the process itself.
Our Philosophy.
Making art shifts attention from an outward orientation to an inward one. Taking time to explore feelings, thoughts and emotions through self-expression helps a person be present with what’s happening for them — and being present is, in itself, an act of peace.
When someone is at peace with themselves, they can be at peace with others. That’s the starting point for everything Create Peace Project builds: individual awareness rippling outward into collaborative artwork, and from there, into community.
We work with people of all ages, with an emphasis on youth ages 8–18 — believing that today’s young people deserve the chance to practice, live, and exemplify a more peaceful way of being, starting now.
